When it comes to growing your business and building a raving and loyal customer fan base, there are few tools out there that can compete with a solid content marketing strategy. But as great as content marketing is, it can also be confusing at times, and without the right strategy and systems in place, it can also be a whole lot of work. Which is why I’m never surprised when we get a little kickback from a client or student asking me just how important content marketing really is? And if maybe, just maybe, there might be another easier strategy we could try instead? So in this episode we’re tackling that question head-on and answering, just how important is content marketing for your business?
When it comes to marketing your business you’ve got a lot of different options available. Too many in fact. And if you’re anything like us, you’re also prone to the entrepreneurial shiny object syndrome, or the disease of distraction that forces you off the path of true marketing strategy to chase after a never-ending supply of new tactics, tools, or techniques.
Which does nothing to help you stay on track and ensure you’re following a proven and reliable strategy, like content marketing. Especially when many of these new, shiny tactics are sold as fast, easy, and able to deliver 1000% returns on investment seemingly overnight. But let me tell you a secret you probably weren’t expecting to hear?
These shiny new tactics that deliver incredible results quickly and easily actually DO work and CAN deliver these almost too-good-to-be-true results.
But… only when they’re been built on the back of another more strategic and sustainable strategy like content marketing.
And that’s what they don’t tell you, and what drives me absolutely bananas when we hear about someone wanting to copy a so-called “overnight success” that did a 6 or 7 figure launch or started a new million-dollar business in under a year. Yes, these can and do happen, but the vast majority of these success stories actually built their “overnight empires” not on short-sighted tactics and tricks, but on the strategic footings of a consistent and value-providing content marketing strategy. Because content marketing builds trust like no other strategy out there. And it enables you to answer questions, solve problems, and overcome objections, essentially pre-selling your prospects before they even pick up the phone, or fill out an order form. Content marketing provides a level of value to your customers that’s simply unheard of with other strategies and tactics, and when properly deployed, the more you give, the more you get back.
Content marketing complements and enhances almost every other marketing strategy out there from building up your search engine rankings with quality SEO content to having ample, relevant, and valuable information to share with your social media following. And as you create more and better content over time the results compound providing exponential returns on investment, increases in web traffic, improvements in your brand reputation, and can even provide a completely separate source of income by becoming a book, a speech, or a presentation. So how important is content marketing? The answer is very, very important as it will form the foundation for a future of marketing successes. Sure there are tonnes of other short-term hacks and tactics to quickly increase leads and sales, and we use them almost every single day in our agency, but they’re almost always built on a solid content foundation.
Because to create a sustainable, valuable, and highly sought-after brand and business, there is no better place to start than with a content marketing strategy.
Take care for now, and see you next time!
